Hurricane Dolly

Dolly has provided for some good images and some damage from high winds and flooding. Some areas recieved about 15 inches of rain. This is a lot of rain for this area to deal with. They are hoping lingering storms will move out of the area today so we have no major levee breaches. Here is a good ireport of pics I found http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-49957

T-storm this Morning

Storm Prediction Center has most of Indiana in slight risk today saying more T-storms could develop this afternoon. No storm reports from this morning just some heavy rain. I'm not thinking any severe near Muncie this afternoon, though perhaps some more rain. A little clearing taking place now. This could form a moisture boundary with all the rain this morning.
Looking to start getting good pics of local storms on here soon. I might wanna read up on lightning safety. I have a hard time following my own advice though.

SPC has Muncie in Slight Risk for severe thunderstorms

The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has Muncie, Indiana in the slight risk category 7/8/08 stating high winds and hail as the main threats. Cold front should be moving through tomorrow afternoon perhaps at peak of daily heat. Strong midlevel unilateral westerly flow indicates low risk of tornados right now. Probably should keep an eye on this though as lower level southerly flow may interfere resulting in some turbulence.

Mixed results for July 4th forecast

Well, I guess I'm a bit rusty, but I'll be back to my perfect forecasts soon...lol.
On the up-side It quit raining in Muncie about 10:00 A.M., very consistent with my rain will be done by 11:00 A.M forecast. (there was a trace of rain about 8:30 P.M.)
On the downside the high temp was only 72, which I overcasted by 10. I underestimated the mid level disturbance, seeing that it was likely not to dig much more. It did not, though it did provide enough lift to keep the clouds around almost all day, thus throwing off my high temp.
My low temp of 64 was off the actual of 59, I expected the 59 early morning on the fifth because of the clearing skies that never quite happened.

July 4th forecast

O.K. so I cheated and waited for Wednesday morning guidance to make forecast. Think ETA doing best with temps and cloud cover though adjusting higher day and lower night temps. System moving in will produce rain here Thursday July 3. Do not think enough moisture to hang around and screw up weather for the 4th. So here it is High:82 Low:64 (about 2:00 AM 5th) If any rain still around Muncie will be gone by 11:00 AM..
and here is NWS forecast for 4th Independence Day: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Northeast wind between 6 and 8 mph. Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60.

Still cool in Muncie

Still cool with high pressure zone entrenched. High 75 Low 59. Watching the July 4th forecast, right now NWS has 30% chance showers/thunderstorms and still cool. Tomorrow I will post my detailed forecast for the 4th. See if it is any better than the NWS.
